This retrospective survey examined 3203 cases of uterine cancer registered with the New Zealand Cancer Registry between 1997 and 2006. The incidence of uterine cancer in Māori women was 17.7 per 100,000 women and the mortality rate was 7.4 per 100,000 women. Women in the most deprived areas were more likely to present with an advanced stage of uterine cancer (OR 1.64; 95% CI 1.09 to 2.48). Māori women were less likely to present with well-differentiated tumours (OR 0.69; 95% CI 0.52 to 0.92).
